Good news for IIT aspirants

There is a ray of hope for the students aspiring for IIT. It has been decided by the council to consider students who have scored 75% or above in Class XII board examination, provided they clear JEE (Advanced). This issue was taken into consideration when 200 students, last year, even after clearing JEE examination, could not get admission in the ongoing academic session as they did not figure in the top 20 percentile, which as per the current norms is compulsory.

Also, as per the new norms, an aspiring general and OBC category should have scored 75% marks. Those belonging to ST, SC and physically challenged category should score a minimum of 70% marks. The ranking system for institutes with higher learning is being worked upon. The heads of IIT Chennai & IIT Kanpur have been given the responsibility to prepare a framework for evolving a system.
